“Being yourself is to illuminate the world with your light, being somebody else is to project your shadow in the darkness.”
We
are very used to judge people/things depending on what other people
have said to us -and we accept that as our truth, so that is part of our
beliefs now.
Is that so difficult to accept that every person is unique and has his/her own way and reasons to be themselves?
When
I decided to be a Coach and Speaker (and a well known person soon) I
knew that all people in my audience and out there could judge me
depending on how I look, because the concept (paradigm) that most of the
people have about Coaches, Speakers and Professional people is that
they need to dress in a "specific" way (as wealthy people). Since that
moment I accepted and started to learn how to handle that. I have my own
style and I always say to myself and other people "I'm the Transformational Coach in jeans," (something not very usual for a woman). I love to break paradigms!
I know that this sound like an excuse for some people, and that is ok. What
I do is to help people to love and be themselves, to be unique, to take
and make the best of them to create the life they deserve, and if I
change myself just to please other people or to follow the paradigms
(rules) I'm fooling myself. I know that it could take me more
effort because I'm swimming against the current (paradigms) but I really
believe in myself and my knowledge, and I know that I can help people
to have a better life. It has nothing to do with the way I dress and I
believe in the power of being unique.
I
love to listen comments about my look -good and challenging- and I
really appreciate people that have the courage to tell me their comments
face to face, because I learn from them. Those comments help me to grow
as a person, especially the challenging ones. I've found that when
people focus in the way I'm dressed and they believe that I'm not "well
dressed" to be in front of people and teach them is because they are
trying to find excuses to not to learn and change their life. They are
just expressing their beliefs and their resistance, and it has nothing
to do with me or the way I dress. I understand and respect them and I
believe that "those" people are the people who need more help;
unfortunately they are not open (ready) to receive the information and
change their life.
There
are a lot of paradigms that controls people around the world. Most of
them are useless and are limiting ourselves to be free and create our
own life:
Why people need to dress in the way that most people do in a specific field if they don't belong to the same team?
Why we judge people before we listen and know them?
Why people need to behave in certain way to be accepted in the society or to prove that they are wealthy or successful?
Why things have to cost a lot of money to value them?
Why we believe on what famous people say, just because they are famous?
Why we are trying to do what other people do, say what other people say and be somebody else just to please other people?
Why we accept other people's beliefs before we know that they help us to grow as a person and help us to achieve our dreams?
The answer is because the limited beliefs that we have programmed in our subconscious
through the years, since we were born, control our life. Our mind
(subconscious) is conditioned to see the world in a specific way,
depending on our past experiences. There are not good or bad beliefs. What matters is if your beliefs help you to grow as a person and accomplish your dreams or your beliefs are limiting you to grow and take you away from what you want. And YOU are the only person who knows that.
If
your beliefs or the paradigms that the world is teaching to you don't
serve you, it is time to take action and change them. And the first step
to change is to be aware about your beliefs and give YOU permission to change, give you permission to succeed. It is time to be YOURSELF and show your uniqueness to the world. Don't be afraid and start being yourself TODAY!
